Adopting a Friend

Millions of dogs end up in America's animal shelters every year. Many of these dogs were already wonderful pets; many more could be great pets with just a little training and loving care. All they need is a chance. Adopting a rescue dog can be a greatly rewarding experience, as thousands of dog-parents already know. We're glad that you've decided to consider adopting a rescue.

Before adopting any dog, please think carefully about whether a dog is a good pet for you, and what kind of a dog would best suit your situation and lifestyle. If you'd like to do some reading, our adoption resource list has some suggestions.

When you are ready to adopt a dog, first review our adoption process. Then fill out the adoption application. If you'd like to be considered for a particular Wagging Tails dog, please mention it on the application. You may file an application even if we don't have a dog that interests you right now—we will hold your application until we find the right match.

Wagging Tails has placed over 500 dogs since 2001. Please take a moment to read some of our happy endings!

Bear is doing great! We love him so much, everyday we tell him how lucky we are to have him. We have had him almost a year now and he is just wonderful. We couldn't be happier. It's very common for us to say, "what would we do without you, Bearie?"
